Sound Pollution
Sound pollution is sound that either cannot filter our brain, or a sound that causes pain or damage to our ears. The unit by which the loudness of a sound is measured is called a decibel. According to the UN. The tolerance limit for the sound is 45 decibels. When a sound exceeds this limit, it becomes sharp and harsh. This is called 'noise'. Noise means the place is contaminated by more sound. The causes of noise pollution are many. For example, the use of loudspeakers and cassette players at high levels, slogans at shows or political and religious occasions, playing radio and TV in volume at the top, hydraulic horn shows on the tracks and on the bus. Noise pollution is harmful to our health. It is due to lack of concentration, irritability, that increased blood pressure, heartbeat and gradually increases the normal rate of deafness. To get rid of this problem, we have to pass stringent laws against sound sources. Then public awareness should be developed through the media. Everyone should cultivate the virtue of silence in personal and social life.
